I don’t know how much of you think about this, but I tend to be a little more curious to watch a show if its setting is in a place that is somewhat near me. It’s always cool to see a place you recognize in the background. Sometimes I find myself distracted from the movie story or the spot and I end up by paying more attention to recognize the place were they are located.
Below are some Tv fictions, films and adverts which have being filmed across the Liguria region.
1) “Genova” film
During the summer of 2007, it was filmed in the city of Genoa the film “Genova”, directed by Michael Winterbottom and starring Colin Firth. On an interview on the magazine “The Telegraph”, Michael Winterbottom talks about the film. This is what he says about the fact that he chose the city of Genoa to shot the film:
M. Winterbottom says: “Of course the story could be set anywhere because it’s about a family moving to a strange city. But the maze of streets in the Genoa old town has a particular atmosphere, a slight sense of mystery – very beautiful, but also quite bewildering. It’s a physical version of the characters’ emotional confusion. They’re trying to start a new life and they’re in this little limbo, wandering around lost, looking for something.”
2) Spot Tv Alfa Romeo Mito car
This is a recent advertising, it’s still transmitted on Television and watching it you can immediately recognize (minute 0:06) the “Sopraelevata” and the road on the Ligurian Western Riviera, Finale Ligure (minute 0:14). The “Sopraelevata” is the main road that crosses the city of Genoa, along the lower port from the Lanterna to the Fiera del Mare. From this road you can view most places of the city: the port, the aquarium, the churches and some monuments.
3) “The Bold and the Beautiful” on location in Portofino
I’m not a big fan of The Bold and the Beautiful. But, when the most famous soap opera of the world, watched in over 90 countries, chooses your region to shoot some episodes of the show, you become a little bit curious and you wait to see the episode just to recognize the places that are very close to you. In fact, the cast and the crew in 2002 travelled to Portofino to film some scenes. Portofino is the jewel of the Italian Riviera where private luxury yachts and boats dock spend some days enjoying this picturesque town, with its divine restaurants.
4) Shiseido Tsubaki shampoo
Finally, on August 2010 was shot in Genoa the advertising “Shiseido Tsubaki shampoo”. A Japanese troupe chose Piazza de Ferrari and its fountain to shot the advertisement “Shiseido” (minute 0:06). Piazza de Ferrari is the main sqaure of Genoa and it is situated between the historical and the modern center. It’s ringed by magnificent buildings, such as Palazzo Ducale and the neoclassical Theatre Carlo Felice.
