Last summer I met Valentina in a temporary shop located on the promenade of Camogli, on the Italian Riviera. Valentina is a ligurian designer who began at a very young age to create jewels under her personal logo “LPK La Piccola Kreativa”. When I entered her shop, my attention was caught by the bright colors of her designs.

Her collections tell all about her creativity and passion for her job. That day she showed me the new collection “My travel garden” with its buckets and flowerpots transformed in earrings, necklaces and rings.

Some weeks ago, I met her again and had the opportunity to see her new intriguing collection “Light Therapy”. This time she transformed chandelier in earrings to respond to the funnny question “What are you wearing on your ears? A pair of chandeliers?!.

During our last meeting I interviewed her. I asked her to give some tips, as a ligurian designer, to all the Beautiful Liguria’s readers which are interested in coming and knowing better this territory. This is what she said.

- Do you have any tips for our readers about living or visiting Liguria?

Yes, I think Camogli is one of the best places for a romantic walk, then there’s Bergeggi for a relaxing day at the beach and Portofino, one of the most famous places known over the world. Finally, in Genoa I love to wander around the carruggi of its medieval center, paying attention not to lose! However,I’d like to suggest to visit two ligurian places which aren’t on the common tour guide books. They are “Capo Santa Chiara” near Boccadasse (an old mariner’s neighbourhood of Genoa city) and Sori, a little fishing village on the Italian Riviera. During the spring / summer time, ligurians people love to take an aperitif in these two places which have a lovely view of the coast.

Then, when my friends come in Liguria, I always suggest them to taste the focaccia with cheese of Recco and to go to one of the many typical restaurants of the ligurian hinterland for a dish of trofie with pesto or pansoti with walnut sauce. And if you are a coffee lover, my advice is to not miss the “Caffè degli Orefici” in Genoa centre. This Cafè is famous for making many different types of coffee. I’m sure you’ll find your favorite one!

- What do you think about the ligurians people?

First of all, I’d like to remember that I was born in Genoa. Anyway, I can’t say that I’m ligurian at all, because my origins are a mix of italian and foreign ones.

I can say that Ligurians people are very proud of their history and traditions. Sometimes, this confidence could be misunderstood and they could be judged as wary persons.

- What are the postive and negative aspects of living in Liguria?

Ligurians people are lucky, becasue they live in a region with a mild climate. They can easly choose between a day to spend at the beach or on the moutains. We have wonderful landscapes, which have also been chosen as set for movies and advertisings. Anyway, I think there’s still too much to do yet. The Italian Riviera has many potentialities, but they are not very known.

You can find Valentina’s creations on her Website “LPK La Piccola Kreativa
