One of the best part about a travel in Italy and in The Italian Riviera is the possibility to have an authentic experience, to be in contact with the local people, to learn more about their traditions, culture and customs and to have the chance to experience their local food traditions.

This is what “Le Sciamadde” does. They want to keep the local cuisine alive and share their culinary traditions with people that they have never met before. In fact, they invite people to their genoese and ligurian homes, cook and then dine with them.

The association “Le Sciamadde” was born during a dinner in Genoa at home with friends. That evening Anna, Paola, Marco and Alessandro met Giancarlo Marabotti, a great chef who knows every secrets of the ligurian cuisine. During other meetings and dinners it was born in each one of them the desire to keep the ligurian cuisine alive and share with people “la cucina genuina” of Liguria with fresh and good quality ingredients, family traditions and the warm of hospitality.

They thought to call the Gastronomic and Cultural Association “Le Sciamadde” just as the traditional small shops whose name in genoese dialect means “flames”. In these “botteghe” (small shops) they used to cook a selection of hot or cold food to take away or eat at the counter.

Le Sciamadde are an authentic symbol of the genoese gastronomic tradition and culture and just as these small stores do, the association “Le Sciamadde” want to carry on the ligurian food tradition.

If you’d like to partecipate to their dinners visit Beautiful Liguria website and do not hesitate to contact them for any info!

What a fabulous idea Anna, so worthwhile keeping traditions alive. Sharing the simple joy of preparing a meal with visitors will certainly do this.

Olen menossa syyskuussa Genovaan Akvarellistien kansainväliseen näyttelyyn. Kiinnostaisi tietää tapahtumapaikan lähellä olevat pienet hotellit ja majoituspaikat. sain vihjeen Länsi-savon jutusta !

Fish Festival

In a small square of the charming village of Camogli you will discover the world's largest frying pan. The pan comes out annually on the second Sunday of May and is used to fry up loads of free fish handed out to villagers and tourists for the annual Fish Festival (Sagra del Pesce) dedicated to St Fortunato, patron saint of fishermen.A must!
