There’s a valley, called the Arroscia Valley, known for its white cuisine. This valley is towards the mountains and where the Mediterranean influences becomes less accentuated.

Torta dei Fieschi – Celebrating a Wedding held in 1230!

On 14th August, the village of Lavagna on the Italian Riviera comes to life with dance and music commemorating the event of the “Torta dei Fieschi” (the Fieschi’s cake), where according to the legend, on Count Opizzo Fieschi and Bianca de Bianchi’s wedding day in 1230, he invited his guests—and everyone else in town—to share a cake that was more than 30 feet high.

Italy is a country that offers so much, with charming sceneries, cities rich in history, wonderful landscapes, beaches, relaxing villages, towns rich of traditions and more. Italians love to spend weekends discovering these places and this is what last weekend I manage to make!

I decided to spend some days at the sparkling lake of Garda (the eastern most and largest of the lakes stretching from the plains towards the Dolomites). You know, Lake Garda’s romantic shores have inspired many poets, painters since the Roman period.
